According to the World Bank’s Doing Business 2020 report, Sri Lanka ranked at 142 with a Doing Business Score of 59.8 in the Paying Taxes indicator. It takes less time to file taxes in Sri Lanka (129 hours per year) than the region (273.5 hours p/y). The Inland Revenue Department is continuously taking efforts to improve the facilities introducing number of new e-Services.
Sri Lanka introduced the RAMIS (Revenue Administration and Management Information System) at the Inland Revenue Department, which enabled taxpayers to file and track their tax payments online, conduct online validation checks and access other tax related services and information online.
